Work and learn anyone?

What happened to the day that a place would take in kids fresh from highschool and train them on the job?  Why don't we have apprenticship programs anymore?    Hell this country and many others were built on it.    But now it almost seems that all a company wants is a kid with a degree.    Someone who had to spend several thousand dollars they didn't have to make no where near enough to pay back the lowns.   I heard about a kid today who has all the degrees and got the big job.......Only to have to work another one to pay the bills and the lowns.    That kid will have worked herself to death before her 30s.   Why?   She will be an old lady at 30 and have killed herself to get a 40k job.    With all these poor kids sitting in parks and people yelling at them to get a job.....Man take a look at how it is for them.    They need some of the old ways to return.   Some kids would be glad to walk into a good job and be trained right there....even if it took a few years.....They could afford to eat and live.
